The Fire Chief of Frio County Emergency Services District No. 1 serves as both the chief executive officer of the Fire Department and the chief administrative officer of the District. This position provides overall leadership for emergency response operations, strategic planning, and organizational management while serving as the highest-ranking command officer during incidents. The Fire Chief works closely with the ESD Board of Commissioners, volunteer fire departments, local governments, and community stakeholders to strengthen countywide emergency services, improve readiness, and enhance public safety throughout Frio County.
The Fire Chief is responsible for managing the District’s finances, budgets, grants, capital projects, procurement, human resources, compliance, and administrative operations. The role also supports the volunteer fire departments serving Moore, Bigfoot, Pearsall, and Dilley through collaboration, planning, training support, and resource development while respecting each department’s operational independence. The ideal candidate brings extensive fire service leadership experience, strong financial and administrative skills, and a proven ability to build partnerships, ensure fiscal accountability, and advance the District’s long-term strategic goals.
